So, we are happy to distribute these to anyone in the community who will then get a short training on how to use the kit to save a life.”  Facebook0TwitterEmailPrintFriendly分享Change 4 the Kenai will be hosting a Drive-Thru Narcan Training at the Soldotna Sports Center Parking Lot. Many members of our community have been affected by the opioid epidemic, and the goal is to help prevent any future overdoses in our state, according to a release from Change 4 the Kenai. Narcan, also known as Naloxone, is a medication designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose. It is an opioid antagonist—meaning that it binds to opioid receptors and can reverse and block the effects of other opioids. It can very quickly restore normal respiration to a person whose breathing has slowed or stopped as a result of overdosing with heroin or prescription opioid pain medications. The Narcan kits are free to anyone that attends the event. Felts: “We have found that it only requires about 4 minutes of training on what an overdose looks like, and how to administer the Narcan.” last_img
