Morrisons reveals declining LFLs

first_imgMorrisons has announced a 1% rise in total sales, excluding fuel, for the 13 weeks to 3 November 2013. However, like-for-like sales dropped 2.4%.The retailer said consumer confidence remained subdued and it continued to see heavy promotional activity across the industry.In its third quarter trading statement, Morrisons said that as previously indicated, its low exposure to the key areas of growth in the industry – convenience and online – continued to impact sales.It said it was progressing well with its plans to increase its presence in these areas, with its online proposition in place and deliveries to commence in Warwickshire initially, in January 2014. Online food deliveries would then roll out to Yorkshire, and Leeds soon after. The retailer said it expected to be serving over 50% of UK homes, including in the London area, by the end of next year.It opened a further 36 M Local convenience stores during the year, bringing its net total to 69. Its Fresh Format concept was also introduced in a further 42 stores.The retailer has also completed the first phase of its own-brand development programme, with around 11,000 redeveloped products launched.Dalton Philips, chief executive, said: “We continue to grow our sales in this tough market while making great progress on our strategy to be a multi-channel retailer. 72-year-old Charged With DWI After Driving Off Embankment

first_imgWNY News Now Stock Image.SOUTH VALLEY – A 72-year-old Amherst man is facing DWI charges after driving his car off an embankment in Cattaraugus County on Wednesday.New York State Police allege Steven Obe was driving drunk when he failed to stop at the stop sign on Bone Run Road, continued across West Perimeter Road, drove over a guard rail and down the embankment.Troopers say Obe was uninjured in the crash.Obe, police say, was placed under arrest after failing several standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. At the New York State Police Barracks in Jamestown, police say Obe blew a breath sample of .10.Troopers say Obe was issued tickets and released. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of South Valley Court next month. Scout.com had reported it earlier Sunday morning.The Mountain View (Georgia) High School product’s pledge to Appalachian State was only a soft verbal, per Scout, and Whitner chose SU over offers from the likes of Air Force, Marshall and Army. He’s only the second cornerback in SU’s current class, joining three-star New Jersey prospect Daivon Ellison.The 6-foot, 180-pound Whitner is also the third verbal from the state of Georgia, joining three-star safety Christopher Fredrick and three-star defensive tackle Tyler Cross.The Orange now boasts 26 verbal commits with three days to go until National Signing Day.
