Free Screening Nights Program Renewed

first_imgThe Nova Scotia Film Development Corporation and Empire Theatres are continuing their commitment to promote local work with the renewal of their free Screening Nights partnership for 2007. Screening Nights, held three times a year, allow local audiences to see homegrown film productions and enable local film makers to promote their work. The first free screening this year will be Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. at the Oxford Theatre with imX Communications Inc. and Hungry Eyes /Film Food Inc.’s Love, Sex and Eating the Bones. Love, Sex and Eating the Bones is a sexy, urban comedy about a guy who is addicted to watching pornography. He discovers love is stronger than fantasy when he meets and falls in love with the girl of his dreams. Starring Hill Harper (CSI: NY) and Marlayne Afflack (The Wire), this frank, smart production refuses to go for easy laughs, dealing with its subject in a realistic, yet often hilarious, way. The film, written and directed by David Sutherland, has received several awards including Best Canadian First Feature at the 2003 Toronto International Film Festival, the Audience and Best Feature awards at the 2004 Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles and Best Film at the 2004 American Black Film Festival. Because of mature content, this film may not be appropriate for all ages. Viewer discretion is advised.last_img read more
